“Painting, sculpture, performance. Three technically separate artistic media that, for all our post-post- modern posturing about cross-disciplinary practice, still tend to exist distinct from one another. Fiona Kinsella, who does consider herself a mixed-media artist, straddles not only the already contentious line between painting and sculpture, but connects both to a performative element. As James Elkins, the highly respected art historian and author of such books as What Painting Is – from which the quote above is taken – states, a picture, or painting, is as much a process, a physical action on an object, as it is an image or idea.”
~ Kendra Ainsworth, Curator, The Art Gallery of Mississauga, 2016.
